Your Questions About Round Hot Tubs

Round Hot tub developed rough scaly surface.?

We just filled our hot tub for the winter after draining it last summer - summers here are too warm. We keep it covered year round, but we always thoroughly clean it prior to refilling it However, when we got in, the surfaces felt very rough and scaly. Very unpleasant. We are very diligent about adding chemicals and testing the water, but we have never had this problem before. Anyone know what this is and how it developed.

Mandy asks…

how do I convert a deck into a sunroom?

I have a 16x16' deck which at one time held a round hot tub. I want to convert it into a room that can be used year round. I live in Cincinnati and need some info on building codes and actual plans. My budget is limited.

The Sage answers:

I am going to do the same thing, you have to make sure you have plenty of support. You should call your bldg code enforcement office for help that is what i do,. I am going to insulate under the floor and then close the outside in all the way to the ground with plywood and finish with siding, inside i am going to stay basic and frame, spray foam and sheet rock with a cheat rock texture ceiling, should cost less than 1000 buck, my room is 16 x 14. Roof is another question make sure you have a good roof, i hav a semi flat roof so i am going to add some extra support in there for snow load, ours here is 65 PSF. I live in Northern New york with allot i mean allot of snow. Good luck my email is the same as my user name here at yahoo. DIY and save some money, youtube is a great source

Mark asks…

What are the operating temperatures of flat panel TV's?

I would like to put a small lcd or plasma TV outside in a lockable cabinet next to my round hot tub. Assuming it stays dry, is it safe to operate one of these year round, or will it need to be stored inside during the winter? Does a plasma handle the cold better than an LCD?

The Sage answers:

Sorry , you cant get any SMALL size Plasma TV. All Plasma is 40 inc and above size ! LCD also Plasma TV can work under temperatures between - 30 c to 80 c.

I love the ocean and my fiance likes it, but it not crazy about it like me. We thought of Vegas, but it will be too hot in June. We both agreed that Poconos is out and so is Niagra Falls. Can you guys give us some ideas of honeymoon suites that offer a big round hot tub, whirlpools, private hot tubs out doors and etc?

The Sage answers:

Sandals has great all-inclusive packages and they have many locations. You're best bet is to visit a travel agent and tell them what you are looking for.
I just got back from my honeymoon, we went to Dominican Republic, Punta Cana the resort was called Excellence and it was excellent. It was all-inclusive and we had a great time!
We had a hot tub in our room, some rooms had a hot tub in their room and on their private balcony. They had a few secluded outdoor jacuzzi's and a waterfall pool. A big swim up bar and the ocean was just a few feet away...we had the best of both worlds...

Good luck and congrats

Maria asks…

I am looking for a hotel in Biloxi, MS with a hot tub.?

I know that all of the casinos have spas, but I would think there would be just a regular hot tub that is open year-round. The date of our stay is Feb 3rd.

The Sage answers:

The Sea Breeze offers rooms with jetted tubs in the bathrooms:

"Indulge in a complimentary spa experience at the Bellissimo Spa & Salon. The complimentary spa experience starts in the steam room scented with eucalyptus, then moves to the sauna, followed by a soak in an immersion tub and finally to a scented, salt-scrub shower. All this before your spa service even begins." Sounds fun!

Hope that helps!

we have just got a hot tub last saturday.we have put all of the chemicals and stuff in it and checked the ph and stuf like that but yesterday it started to go couldy and round the edge it stated to to scaly and dirty, the water has turned milky

what is it ?? and
what has happened to it ???

thank you xx

The Sage answers:

Probably minerals, you can get a water softener and put it in somewhere before your cold line hits any fixtures or the water heater. You shouldn't need to hire a plumber, anyone relatively handy should be able to do it.

Sandra asks…

Which first after swimming - hot tub or steam room? Or doesn't it matter? . . .?

I swim 4 or 5 times a week to keep fit and then use the hot tub for 15mins after. I want to use the steam room also but is it best to use the steam room THEN the hot tub or the other way round?

The Sage answers:

It doesn't matter. Just make sure you cool down between using them. Also keep in mind that the hot tube will increase your core temperature more than the steam room will.

Helen asks…

Hot tub, outside or inside?

I might be getting a hot tub and dont know where to put it? It will be in the NE so, not hot all year round..lol. Anway, I have a patio enclosure with windows and some thin carpet. So I am not sure if I should put it in there, which with some adjusting will fit, or put it outside? It has a cover on it. However, IDK where to put it..lol. The patio enclosure has bamboo drapes, so it would like nice. However, i can see it looking nice outside as well. I know 4 people that have hot tubs. 2 inside( they had space ), and two outside. The ones with outside used it only on special events or in the late spring/summer to my knowledge. Where would you put yours, inside the patio or outside?

The Sage answers:

If it is a larger tub, be sure humidity will not be an ongoing problem for you if you do choose to put it inside. Some owners find that the tubs can cause wood to warp and windows to sweat (causing moisture probs on frames and sills) if there isn't adequate space or air flow. Good luck.

Not really sure, but you can look at the “Energy” saving guide on the hot tub.

I would think it your electric bill would go up considerably being you are going to run it constant, especially in the cold.

Water? Your only filling it once or maybe twice.

Sandra asks…

If you had people round to splash in your hot tub, would you insist they wash them selves first?

After all they may not be clean.
Yes Tap, but what about all the bits?

Used Hot Tubs Store answers:

No as all the people I would think of inviting are extremely clean and would not even consider they arrived requiring to be washed.

Carol asks…

Why are kids under 16 not allowed in hot tubs/steam rooms?

Hey everyone, so first of all I’ve been asking a bunch of questions lately, but I just feel like it so whatever. Anyway:

I’m on year round swim team and it seems like since someone turns 10 or 11 they start joining us in the hot tub and steam room. The workers at the health club always come to collect towels and yell at us for being underage, while we asked our swim coach and he said he saw nothing wrong with going in the hot tub. He agreed it’s a good way to relieve stress and loosen your muscles, especially in the winter.

My friends and I will go in either the steam room or hot tub every day after practice. We either sit in the steam room for like 10 minutes and then dip our feet in the hot tub with the people “afraid” of the steam room or just sit in the hot tub. (Oh, and on the weekends we’ll deep-condition our hair and sit in the steam room to absorb the moisture lol). We take cold showers afterwards to cool back down, so I see nothing wrong with it.

So, are steam rooms and hot tubs good for you? Why don’t they allow people under 16 in them? Every girl in practice, from 12-17 joins the hot tub party after practice.

Used Hot Tubs Store answers:

There is nothing wrong with going into the steam room or hot tub if you are over 12 years old. By then the heat regulation systems in your body are pretty well developed, and you have enough body mass that the risk of overheating is pretty low. Under age 8, there can be some risks if you use the hot tub, but the steam room is still okay.

The problem comes from your health club and their insurance company. Under a certain age you are a minor and can’t be held responsible for your actions. In the USA, that’s usually between 14 and 18 years old, depending on your state. So if anyone could use the hot tub or steam room, your parents could sue the health club and would probably win, even if you were doing something dumb. By having an age policy, they are off the hook.

At 16, you can work and drive, so your health club’s insurance company sees you having more responsibility in the eyes of the law. Therefore, you can now go into their steam room and hot tub (and probably use their workout machines too).

Welcome to our website. When purchasing a hot tub or spa, one of the most inexpensive models is the portable round hot tub. This is a more conventional style and most likely the type you have seen at hotels or in a friend’s backyard. The major advantage of course is that you can take it with you wherever you go but being round in shape gives the water a circular motion adding to the whole relaxation experience.

Before making any decision however, we implore you to consider the following details:

A long warranty for such an item could save you many dollars and even though the majority are built to last, problems do arise from time to time. Secondly the weight when full of water. Some people neglect to ask this question but a round hot tub can weigh over 5000 lbs when full so make sure you have a suitable surface or base in mind that can withstand the pressure. Thirdly the electrical outlet required. A normal power point is 110v but the chances are, the tub you end up buying will need a 220v in which case you may have the added expense of installing one. Finally maintaining and operating costs of the round hot tub. Although you will find that most tubs are designed to run efficiently and the insulation helps to keep the water warm, there will still be an electricity bill and additional costs for keeping the unit clean and safe. Most suppliers should be able to give you an approximate monthly estimate.

Once you’ve factored in the above, it’s now time to see what’s on offer. Below you will find our list of round hot tubs that have been thoroughly reviewed with the customer in mind. Before displaying each model, the selection criteria used included overall design, additional features, length of warranty, customer satisfaction and of course, value for money. We hope you enjoy your visit and hope to see you again shortly for further updates.
