Sandy asks…
Why cant I find hot tub prices online?
I shop online for everything. I don’t necessarily purchase online but I do price everything
before I decide. I bought my house this way and two months ago my newest vehicle. When I go looking
for a hot tub there is zero price info that I can find. For example enter “Chevy
Silverado” in a Google search and hundreds of sites will be listed, enter “jacuzzi tub” and there
are just come-ons trying to get you in. No prices. Why can I price homes and cars
online but a hot tub is a set-up for bait and switch? Is anybody familiar with a
website or store in the Dallas area that provides a price online? This seems to be a product that
is associated with a lot of snake oil salespeople.
or are all such commodities

Daniel asks…
How much on average does it cost to get an electrician to hook up a hot tub?
I got a new hot tub and the manual says I need a professional
electrician to hook it up. I have gotten a few estimates but I dont want to pay anymore than I have
to so I was wondering what is the average price of this and if anyone knows how to find someone
that will do it for a lot cheaper if possible. Any help would be great thanks ![]()

I just ordered a new hot tub and have this same question. One of my friends is an electrician and he wrote me up a part list of all the things I would need. My hot tub is ~60 from my electrical panel and right next to my house. The total cost of all the materials I had to buy at home depot was $400. This includes a GFI for the circuit breaker ($94), about 100 feet of 8×3 wiring (almost $200) and misc stuff like a disconnect box ($7) PVC wiring and stuff. So depending on how far you need to go from your electrical box it will dictate how much it will be. Now that was just for parts… My friend said he would charge like $1400 to do it, so about $1000 labor. That’s for 2 guys to do it in 3-6 hours. So ya, it will cost quite a bit if you have someone do it for you. Now this is to have it all done to code for 220V, im sure you could do it for slightly less if you skimped a bit and didn’t have it to code, but I wouldn’t want to..

Hot springs envoy hot tub costs?
We’re buying a hot springs envoy hot tub, and were given a price of $9,000, and would like to know if this is a fair price for the new tub? How much have people paid for these tubs?
Txs

Usedhottubsstore answers:
Eskie got a very low price. The hot tub is marked up 40% over cost. That does not include delivery to your local store. If your store sells a very large amount of tubs then they will get a bit more discount. Use the 40% as a guide. Some Hotsprings dealer will actualy deal but most will not since like most Land Rover/Porsche dealers….they have you..period and can charge whatever they want.
As someone who works on all tubs…Have you looked at a Sundance?
The moto massage sucks over time. Belts always breakdown. I can’t even tell you how many I have repaired over the last year alone. (90+)

Ruth asks…
220V 50A A/C line needs reconnected to hot-tub.?
A 220V 50A A/C connection needs disconnected/re-run to a new
hot tub that is 40ft away. What materials/cost are required? Ideally there would
be a switch to toggle between the 2 functions. I will ultimately get an electrician but want to do
as much ground work as possible on my own and make sure I get a fair price.
Toggle may be a poor choice of words. The intent is to disable the A/C circuit prior to activating
the hot tub circuit (and be able to reactivate the A/C when I sell the
hot-tub). Also, the manual says that it requires a “240V, 50A, 4-Wire” connection.
The current sub-panel I have out back close to the hot tub has a 220V/50A line to
the A/C currently. So far my assessment of main items that I will need: (1) new
GFI breaker, (2) 40ft of 6gage THWN wire [4 wires], (3) 40ft one-inch Schedule 40 PVC conduit, (4)
sub-panel to accommodate the old A/C breaker plus the new hot-tub
breaker. Just is just based on some googling.

As the others pointed out, it is a code violation to do what you are proposing. A 240 volt circuit is dedicated to a certain purpose and is not allowed to feed two different loads. You will need to run another 240 volt circuit to the new hot tub from the panel. Get the electrician first so you don’t waste time and money by planning things wrong.
It is very unusual to see a 50amp 4 wire circuit to an air conditioner. I wonder what size wires are installed on that circuit?
