A bad connection from corrosion is sometimes caused from
condensation formed on electrical components when spas have not
been run for a long time and have been stored empty. The shafts
of pump motors can rust causing it to lock up when not used.
The plumbing of stored spas that have been drained can still
have water existing there. When the stored spa is located in
very cold temperatures, the water freezes and expands, causing
the plumbing system to acquire cracks and fractures.
The heat (like from the sun) can damage the stored spas
which will show visible blistering. If there is no water in the
hot tub, these damages can be made worse. Have the hot tub
filled with water and run for about twenty-four hours at the
maximum temperature setting before performing your inspection.
Then you should be able to spot any leaks or system
problems.
Try looking at the newspaper classified section to find and
purchase a spa. Many people have to sell their equipment before
they move. It is not good to look at Online auction sites
because of impractical shipping costs and not being able to see
or inspect any spa before purchasing it.
You can decide how much to spend by factoring in the spa
style design, any extra features and age of a spa as well as
the general condition. Used hot tubs may be purchased from a
dealer with a warranty because the spa was purchased using
financing and the person was unable to continue making
payments.
