Your Questions About Hot Tubs Florida

Is it too hot in florida for a hot tub?

We're looking to move to Orlando Florida from Seattle Washington (brrr), and are wondering if we would get much use out of a hot (i.e. spa). Should it affect our decision in purchasing a home if one is included?

Bonus question:
What's the median price to maintain a hot tub in Florida?

The Sage answers:

This would be a personal opinion more than a factual answer. As for the cost to maintain I would imagine it would be less than Washington because you would not to heat it as much.

Carol asks…

what motel or hotel can i go to within a 100 miles of citrus county Florida that have a hot tub in the room!!?

i'm trying to take my girl friend to a nice place for her b-day and she says she's always wanted to go to a motel or hotel with a real hot tub in the room, i need to find some where within 2 hours of citrus county florida??

The Sage answers:

Most hotels and motels in Florida do not offer hot tubs in the rooms. However, I did find this location that may make your girl frends birthday special and it is only about 45 minutes from Citrus County.

You might check to see if other B&B's closer may offer something similiar, but be aware that jacuzzi tubs are NOT the same as a 'real hot tub'..some people get fooled by those ads. Enjoy your stay.

There are no private places here in Orlando for that, but there are some hotels that offer a jacuzzi or hot tub inside the rooms. I believe the Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes offers a suite that has a jacuzzi in the room. Go to the website and check it out.

I’m in Florida and the palmetto bugs are bugging me…?

We have a second bathroom that is rarely used, especially the shower/tub. Palmetto bugs are coming in, either through the tub faucet, or the drain, and thanks to my monthly exterminator, I keep finding dead bugs in there. I’m glad they are dead, and they are just palmetto bugs, but they are bugs and disgusting when they are in my house. Is there a solution to keeping them from coming up through my drain or faucet? I run hot water through every couple days- but they are still getting in. Help!

Usedhottubsstore answers:

Try running a boiling water so you literally boil the little suckers, and do it at least once a day. You can also try the combination of baking soda and vinegar. First pour one then the other down the drain. It’s used as a drain opener, but I think it will also kill anything inside.

25 Benefits of Global Warning–Sorry, some strong language?

Global warming has been getting a bad rap lately. But what’s so terrible about having more oceans, no winters, and year-round sun tans? Before you write off the coming climate change, check out our 25 reasons why there’s nothing like a nice warm globe.
1. Minnesota can change its license plate slogan from “Shit hole” to “The State with Two Coasts.”

2. Kansas will finally get what it deserves: a hurricane.

3. Saying “I hate winter” will be like saying “I hate Father’s Day”, cause it only lasts 24 hours.

4. No more penguins.

5. The hotter it is, the colder beer’ll taste.

6. “Sunny Alaska” will replace “Burny Florida” as the new winter vacation destination.

7. It will take a lot less time to boil water.

8. You’ll finally get some use out of that ark you got for Christmas.

9. Hot Tubs will be replaced with Ice Tubs – which will mean lots and lots of hard nips.

10. Everyone will be so tan that we’ll all look like Arabs. And then there won’t be any more racism.

11. One word: Waterworld.

12. Another great excuse to hang out in your underwear 24/7/365.

13. Mexicans will start heading south instead of north.

14. You’ll be able have engine block eggs without starting your engine.

15. The Olympic torch will never go out.

16. Due to the lack of ice, hockey will finally become the the sport it was meant to be: a bunch of guys hitting each other with sticks under water.

17. There’s no forest fires in the ocean.

18. The phrase “hot as hell” will no longer be hyperbole.

19. You’ll be able to roast your nuts without an open fire.

20. Since they’re called the “Boys of Summer”, baseball will be played year round.

21. You’ll be able to really put your Degree deodorant to the test, just like in the commercial.

22. It’ll be as hot as the south everywhere, so naturally, everyone will become as funny as Jeff Foxworthy and Larry The Cable guy. We’ll laugh ourselves into world peace.

23. You’ll be able to give hot rock massages to ladies you just met in the park.

24. If the entire world floods and we’re forced to live underwater, maybe we’ll meet Poseidon.

25. We’ll all figure out there’s nothing beneficial about global warming.

George asks…

Should I buy a house or condo?

Hello. I am 58 years old. I currently live in a high rise condo in New York City. I still work, but not as much as I used to. I sometimes have to travel, but usually the company I work for is pretty flexible.

I am looking to retire. I still would have a place in New York, but I would like to buy a place in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. I would spend the winter and summer down there, and maybe more. However, I am pretty stumped on whether to purchase a house, or a condo. My wife recently passed away, and my kids both live in California.

Pros and Cons

Condo-The condo I am looking into is called the Landmark. It is a high rise luxury condo that is on the beach. It has a private beach, gym and pool/hot tub with saunas and steam, restaurants within the building, elevators that directly access to your room, tennis courts, and golf club access to a club 2 miles away. It also has a 24/7 concierge, doorman, and security as well as valet services and garage. It would be a 3 bedroom condo with 4.5 baths, kitchen, 5 closets, dining room, living room, media room (movie theater), etc.

Cost: 1.8 million.

The second option I am looking into is buying a nice house in a gated golf community in Palm Beach Gardens. It is secured all over, has two 18 hole golf courses, 14 tennis courts, a club pool and hot tub, club saunas and steam, huge clubhouse that has three different restaurants, five star concierge style management, valet services, fitness center, pro shops, and a beach club located 3 miles away that has another pool and hot tub as well as a restaurant and private beach access.

Price: 2.1 million.

I can afford either option, but am clueless as to weather I want a low maintenance condo without the on-site golf courses, or the larger house with resort style living.

Please help me.
whether, not weather. Sorry for the careless spelling error.

Usedhottubsstore answers:

The most important question in what do you want? You are used to living in a high rise and a high rise community. Do you like that? Have you ever lived in a house with a yard?

I’d recommend you wait to buy and rent a place in both communities for a short time. See what you like about each and make an educated decision. You have time. Take it. Who knows, you may decide you want to move out to California to be closer to your kids!

Good luck.

Jenny asks…

How do you like my book?

ok so i decided to write a book. I’m eighteen and its really just about life and some of the events are real. Here’s the beginning of the book. It’s called Sasha By the way.

They say everything happens for a reason, but that is a lie.
Is there a reason my parents got a divorce? Is there a reason my whole family has gone to live with my mother in West Virginia and I stayed with my dad? Is there a reason why my dad had to move across the country from my mother? Are there answers to all those questions? There are answers, just not valid ones.
Well, my names Sasha. I live in Los Angeles California and I’m sixteen years old. My parents split up when I was fourteen and ever since then my family has fallen apart. We used to live in a beautiful house with seven bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. It had its own movie theater and everything. A pool, a hot tub, you name it and it was there. But it’s not like that anymore.
So I have 2 brothers and 4 sisters and I am the youngest. I don’t see them often since they all live with my mother in West Virginia.
Jason, the oldest of the family is thirty years old. He lives in Florida with his wife and his two kids, Kennedy and Mackenzie.
Morgan is twenty-eight. She disowned us as a family when she was nineteen because no one liked her boyfriend and not one of us has heard from her since then. However, she is a smart girl so we don’t worry about her.
Jessica is twenty-two. She is gone to medical school somewhere in Canada and I only see her at Christmas because the rest of the year she is gone with her boyfriend.
Vinnie is twenty-one. He was the one I was closest with. We could talk about anything and he would be really sensible about it. I bet if I told him I got pregnant at 13 he would understand. That could be because he had a daughter at fourteen, her name is Yasmeen and she’s seven.
Leigh-Anne is eighteen. She gets whatever she wants and is a spoiled brat. We never got along but that’s just sister rivalry right? No big deal. She is a senior in high school and is the cheer leading captain.
Justine is the youngest other than me, she is seventeen. She lives in West Virginia with my mom, Vinnie and Leigh-Anne. She is a junior in high school and thinks she is the prettiest thing in the world. She says she has the hottest boyfriend ever, I don’t think he’s even that hot but whatever she likes right? I guess so.

So the things that were real is that my parents did get a dovorce except when i was seven, not fourteen. Also, the rest of my family does live on the other side of the country and i live with my dad. However i dont have two brothers but i do have four sisters.
So what did you guys think of it? What can i change to make it better?
All kind of comments are exceped. Thank you for the help.

Usedhottubsstore answers:

It’s acceptable, up until “My name is Sasha….” Then it just becomes a bland dumping of information that should be revealed by the plot, not shoved down our throats by the main character all at once… This also doesn’t really give a good idea of what the story will be about, and I definitely don’t want to keep reading.

It’s best not to just give a bunch of information in the introduction, or all together at any point, just spread it out so readers learn the information. After reading this, I could probably name one or two of her siblings, and guess their ages, but since it was all just put there like this, I didn’t really collect the information. I merely skimmed over it, looking for interesting things to happen. Nothing interesting happened. >.>

Also, she says all of her siblings live in WV with her mom, but only two of them actually do. >.

I think the general rule that goes along with this is "show, don't tell."
If it's really important that Justine is seventeen, we'll learn that when it becomes important. The character living with only her father is most definitely important, but it's not generally something that should be told in an informal introduction. I hate it when characters who narrate try to talk directly to me at the beginning of stories. -.- It'd be better if she perhaps feels lonely when she gets home from school and nobody is there… Or feels excited to get a call from her brother… Or if she gets a chance to visit them… Otherwise, I don't want to hear about them.

Sorry to sound harsh.. I'm in a foul mood because people on answers would rather give out compliments than solid advice.

William asks…

How much would you pay for this house… It is a 3/2 – 1,338 SF with…?

Built in 1999 with .40 acres of land, an above ground pool, hot  tub, and outside patio area. In sunny and warm Florida, so you get a lot of use out of it.

Good condition, just need to re-paint the maroon paint that it has now to a more neutral color. Inspection came back perfect.

An hour away from the beach, 2 minutes from the mall/shopping. 15 minutes away from work. The area of town with hardly any traffic.

The neighbors are about 20 yards away on each side of the house.

So just based on this, how much do you think this house is worth? Or how much would you pay for it?

Usedhottubsstore answers:

If it was in my town then about $155,000. Don’t know your town.

Nancy asks…

Which of these hairstyles would be best for a week in Florida?

To all of the people who hate scene hairstyles, get the heck on someplace. I didn’t ask if they’re hot or not. I am getting them anyways.

Okay, so they’re scene hairstyles. All I want to know is which is likely to last the longest.
And how do I take care of the one you choose?

I am going swimming, but I am not swimming. I’ll be chilling in the pool or hot tub yapping my mouth away.
Other than that, I’ll be cruising around in a car visiting areas, and shopping!

The second one. You’ll sweat like there’s tomorrow. Then that pretty pretty hairstyle(I meant the other two) will be ruined because of the excessive sweating… D:

Usedhottubsstore answers:

The Banff Springs Hotel is the landmark hotel on the golf course.. Beautiful hotel but a bit older. When I went to Banff, I stayed a bit up the mountain at a place called the Rimrock. Excellent hotel. Unbelievable views overlooking the entire Banff valley. A tad pricey but everything in Banff will be. In terms of places to go when you’re there, there’s a village at the bottom of the mountain with all sorts of shops/restaurants, etc. It’s a pretty neat little village. I went in the summer, but I imagine that in the winter there will be a lot of places to ski/snowboard around there. Banff is definitely beautiful and a great place to go, but it’s not like a big city so you would probably get your fill after a couple of days there. You could always do the Banff/Calgary trip. Calgary will be very cold in January though, but it’s still an awesome city. If you are from Florida, I would definitely say be prepared for winter temperatures when you get here. Alberta is among the coldest provinces in the winter. Lake Louise is another landmark there – it’s one of the most photographed lakes in the world; it is close to Banff and I’m sure there’s skiing around there as well. Hope your trip goes well.

Thomas asks…

Other places like Snowshoe, WV?

I’ve heard good things about researched it some, but I’ve heard lodging there can be expensive since I would want to stay in the Village and do as man attractions as possible besides skiing.

I was going to plan a few day trip there in February, but was wondering if there were any other places along the east coast that has similar attractions and “village-like” area(I really like the outdoor pool, hot tub, tubing) that’s a bit cheaper in price. I’m not even into skiing just saw how many fun attractions they had and it’s the only place I know about since I live all the way in Florida.
Thanks a lot

Usedhottubsstore answers:

7-Springs resort in Western PA just about an hour from Pittsburgh is a great fun place to go. They have skiing, indoor pool, bowling alleys, game room, multiple bars each with bands. The food is good there also. They have a spa also. Tubing is available. Hot tubs. Limited shopping.

Wisp Resort in Deep Creek MD is more laid back.

Oglebay Resort in Wheeling WV.
