You could of course jump into the spa or
hot tub but not only could this be dangerous, it's also not that easy. We would recommend considering steps for
safety and comfort. These dats, there are loads of different styles to
choose from.
Your Questions About Hot Tub Steps
Need better steps for hot tub?
We have a hot tub outside with the regular 2 step cedar steps. It is
very difficult to get in & out of the hot tub for my handicap son and my elderly Mother. We are thinking of
putting up a rail, but better steps would be even better. Anyone have any ideas on a higher, easier access to
the hot tub?
The Sage answers:
I would try to construct (either with someone from your
family/yourself/a contract if need be) a ramp with ridges. For example, a plank that is on supports at a
suitable angle to the hot tub with 2X4s nailed to the top for grip (so as not to slip going up the ramp) instead
of steps, which can be very difficult to climb. If needed, of course add a railing, that way there is further
stability.
Good luck! If this doesn't work, maybe go in to a Home Depot or other
building store, a hot tub store may be more pricey, but they're probably used to making special steps and other
customizations. The staff could help you out!
Maria asks…
Could anyone send me plans on how to build steps for a hot tub? I will
choose you as the best answer if you do
If you have detailed blue-prints or plans as to how to build hot-tub
stairs (two or three steps to help get in it), please send them to twogigpartition@aol.com. I'll be sure to give
you the best answer. Thanks!
The Sage answers:
You will need to give more detailed info then that what is the rise what
is the run. Basically how high do you want them to go in what sort of distance. But easuest way I can tell you
go to home depot buy a stair stringer two of them one for eathier side of the stair case next find a piece of
wood that will fit in length and width that you will step onto you can have open stairs or closed if they are
open just put a piece on the part you wuld step on if you want them closed you put one where you step and one on
the back of it. As far as fixing it into the groud you could go with concret or just nail it directly into the
deck sorry do not nail use screws for all fastening puposes.

Carol asks…
I am trying to winterize my own hot tub. What are the steps?
I drained it and used a shop vac to blow air into all the holes. Then, I
cleaned up that water. Now, I opened up the motor compartment...and I don't know what to do from here. What do I
do to winterize that part?
The Sage answers:
Well, it is basically the same as a camper's water system go to walmart
and buy some winterize you will probably need about 4 gallons you will have to get it to run through your system
anywhere water travels you need to replace it with the fluid. You should also call the manufacturer and ask for
exact advice.
Laura asks…
Steps to filling up a hot tub?
We are housesitting for some friends of ours over the next week, and she
mentioned before she left that I am welcome to use their hot tub (the catch is that I have to fill it up
myself)
I'm assuming that there is more to it than just filling it up with a
garden hose and letting the water get hot? Can someone let me know how to do this? I've never owned a hottub so
I really don't know the procedure. My husband and I really want to use their hottub while we're staying
here!
Thanks!
The Sage answers:
Sure filling a hot tub is easy here's some easy steps to follow if your
require more info ill give a lil better description after.
1.) Put the hose in the skimmer and close the cover down to hold it in
place. You want to fill thru the skimmer so you don't get an airlock.
2.) wait until you get at least 6" over a flat skimmer basket or if its
a rectangular plate on the sidewall until the water is halfway up it at least.
3.)switch on the breaker for the tub and set the temp you want once the
tub goes thru its priming cycle. Usually most tubs have a standard operating temp of 100 farenheit when they are
turned on with their max being 104 farenheit or 40 celsius.
4.) once the tub reaches 80 Farenheit or its celsius equivalent you can
put in the chemicals that i hope she has still lying around. In this case a hot tub shock , some granular
chlorine or bromine tabs and depending on your water source possibly ph down. You should also have a simple test
kit or test strips to check the levels in the tub.
5.) Shock put in around 200 grams , chlorine around 60 grams or just
fill up the floating dispenser with bromine puck and and open it about 3 slots, and ph down if you need it is
always under the rule of less is more. It reacts very quickly so no more then tablespoons while adjusting the
levels.
6.) once it hits the desired temperature enjoy to your hearts
content.
Sounds simple right , now heres the downside.
1.) If the tubs been down a long time it could so many different things.
If you live in a area where u get cold weather ( any weather that can freeze water solid) she might not have
winterized it so it could be broken in the piping or pumps and leak like a sieve.
2.) tubs are not meant to sit idle with no water its harder on the
system especially older tubs so it might have leak issues around the jets and such or at union joints where
o-rings might have gone bad
3.) if for some reason you didnt fill it thru the skimmer or maybe you
did and got an airlock anyways then you have to remove it before you can heat up your tub. Simply locate the
pump thats running and loosen the return union slowly until you hear air and then see water drip out. Let more
water out but be careful as you do have live electrical near you. Once it starts spraying out faster and the
sounds of the pump change tighten back up the union. You should see water movement in the tub as a sign that its
worked.
4.) the last problem i can think you might have is faulty equipment. If
the breaker for some reason keeps tripping you can do one of two things. Call in a tech like myself or you can
problem solve it yourself. Id suggest the former in all honesty as a tub can be very confusing to the
layman.
Hope that helps and enjoy the tub

The
Magical Benefits of Used Hot Tubs
Have
you ever dreamed of owning your very own spa but couldn't afford it. Used hot tubs may be the answer,
particularly in the current economic climate. Now before the thought passes out of your head again, read on and
make an informed decision that could change your life, forever!
If
you've been looking for the ultimate cure to relieve stress then look no further. Visualize the warm water
soaking your body whilst the pulsating jets massage all your aches and pains away. There are numerous activities
and sports that people use to focus their aggression on but when it comes to stress, then relaxation must be the
key. Using the hot tub system correctly should remove all your anxieties leaving you totally refreshed and
relaxed.
The
spa or hot tub has always been used for relaxing and medical science has proven that there are indeed health
benefits associated with its usage. Although it took many years to achieve this status, there is evidence dating
back to Roman times that the people of the empire were encouraged to bathe for much the same reason. The big
question is why should sitting in warm water every day improve our health? Well the answer, which seemed to take
many years for medical approval, is to do with the slowing down of our heart rate and the blood flowing through
our veins.
Today
we live pretty hectic lives and with this lifestyle comes added stress. It's likely that the growing number of
physical aches and pains is largely due to this additional stress but I'll wager that if everybody spent at
least half an hour at the end of each day relaxing in a used hot tub or spa, visits to the doctor would be
vastly reduced. Unfortunately our culture seems to be popping pills rather than unwinding and hence the already
huge burden on the health service is likely to increase. If only we had been taught the benefits of hydrotherapy
at an early age, perhaps things could have been different.
One
day our doctors might prescribe us used hot tubs rather than taking antibiotics, imagine that! I can dream but
would like to leave you with this thought. The Romans managed to revolutionize and almost conquer the world. If
it's good enough for them it's good enough for me.
Far more people today are taking advantage of the relaxing and healing
benefits of having a spa or hot tub. Whether used primarily for quiet family time or for entertaining close
friends, hot tubs are widely used backyard features. However, if it's difficult for you to get in and out of
your spa, or if you are worried about slipping and falling, you won't be able to enjoy your hot tub as often as
you'd like to. Fortunately, we do have a very good answer to the problem. Simply by using spa and hot tub steps
and rails, you can significantly improve your level of comfort, safety, and peace of mind so you can get rid of
your anxieties and concerns with true relaxation.
The following information demonstrates a few of the options readily available for
you:-
Molded resin steps meet the curvature of your tub with ease, and often include built
in storage beneath the step for spa extras. These are known as hot tub storage steps. Presently there are many
choices in color, style, price and size. One particular eye-catching model provides inset rubber panels which are
extremely comfortable on bare feet. Rubber insets also help minimize the risk of slipping and falling.
One more common type of hot tub step is created from redwood or cedar because of
their natural ability to repel water. They can be purchased already built, or if a person is particularly handy,
they can just buy the supplies and make the steps on their own. When these kinds of steps are treated with
chemicals or sealants, they will last a very long time.
A final feature that accompany many of the steps is some type of built in lighting
installation. Because many people that have hot tubs often want to make use of them at night time when it is dark
outdoors, and this particular subtle lighting design provides them with sufficient visibility to see their way down
the stairs, but not so much light that it damages the relaxing atmosphere of the evening. Thus, a hot tub can be a
great accessory to any kind of home. But nevertheless , don't forget to attach some steps to really make it a safe
and pleasurable experience for everybody involved.
You can see below a short piece of film demonstrating how to
replace an old set of hot tub steps. These original ones were made out of wood which unfortunately over
time have become rotten as generally wood does not weather well. These days the popular and cheaper steps
are made of special plastic designed to combat the elements meaning they will last for many years to come. We
hope you enjoy the show and look forward to any comments you care to make by using the box located at the end of
this page.
