Your Questions About Hot Tub Gazebo

Reasonable patio furniture?
My husband and I just closed on our new home! We take posession in a month. The main selling feature for us was the fact that it has the MOST amazing backyard with a lagoon style pool, hot tub, palm/fruit trees, and gazebo. We would love some nice looking furniture (chaise lounges, a big dining set, comfortable lounge chairs etc). We live in
Florida, where we can spend 9-10 months a year outdoors, so it seems like a reasonable place to furnish nicely!
Does anybody have any recommendations for beautiful outdoor furniture that won't break the bank? I wish that we could order from Pottery Barn or Restoration Hardware, but it just doesn't seem smart to spend $10,000 on furniture that's going to get rained on when we have young children who need college funds!!
I'm a big online shopper... any tips would be much appreciated :-)

I found that http://www.chaiselounges.com/ and http://www.rockingchairs.com/ have some nice quality patio and poolside furniture at really reasonable prices. You might also try giving http://www.patiofurnitureusa.com/ a try if you are looking for more dining type patio furniture. Their prices are also very affordable.

The Sage answers:
If that's what you want then sure
it doesn't sound like a sweet 16 though
we have chocolate fountains and stuff at my summer parties
but if you want a chill relaxation party then that sounds good

Made an outdoor bar at home and everyone wants to come over and drink.?
Last year we took out our broken hot tub and put a Tiki Bar in an enclosed Gazebo added wicker furniture speakers and TV and it is a great hit with friends & family. However, nobody brings beer or liquior. We provide drinks, snacks, music and sometimes babysitting when they bring young kids. (we have bon fires when it is cold at night.) A friend was out with a group of people & called me to say everyone is coming to Tiki bar, I laughed and said yah right! At first it was funny but, now We are tired of MOOCHERS!!! I can't believe people can be so inconsiderate. I recently told people to bring some beer if they wanted to drink in Tiki bar and they brought a six pack for themself and does not ask to come over anymore. I never went to a friends house empty handed.~ I need some advice.~ I don't want people to stop coming, I just want them to pitch in on the cost or bring a bottle from time to time. Feeling USED and Abused!!!

Nobody can take advantage of you without your permission.
Tell them that providing drinks (and food) for them is no longer an option.

Hot tub parties are a blast. If it is just gonna be a smaller group of you guys, I would bring some bubbly or wine and try and class it up. If it is going to be a lot of people, just bring some beer. You won't stand out as much as if you show up to a big party with a bottle of champagne.
Yeah and I'm a guy so I have no idea what to do clothes wise.

Why not in a hot tub gazebo or a hot tub as opposed to a regular tub? NE1 got a guess?
I am open to any answer.

The Sage answers:

Don't you get it?
They started taking bath together.
They did it - yup because of Cialis.

You see, older people have this problem getting erection and keeping it on. Then to have ... Hmmm... Hmmm... You know........ Is even tougher.
(You will understand it, when you get old).

So, they continue where they left off with taking bath after..... Hmmmm...hmmm.... You know......

Get it now.?

So the commercial goes on to say, it is because of Cialis. That's all there is to it.

I can't explain it further. Oh, I am blushing, and embarassed.

DIY Inground Pool Kit's Anyone ?

Has anyone done their own install on one of these kits. We have the money to pay for a complete install but would rather save the money for a hot tub/gazebo to go with the pool. Does anyone on here know someone or have experience putting one of these in ground pools in. I have tons of people to help me so that would be no problem and the company I work for will let me use their equipment to dig it etc.

http://royalswimmingpools.com/kit_rectangle.htm

The Sage answers:

Grande -

I don't know if I'd go with that company, at least if you're doing a polymer kit. They sell Novelle kits. I looked up the Novelle website and they don't say how long they've been in business - they have 2 numbers listed on the website. One is out of order (the local #) and the 800# goes to a mortgage processing center. So, they strike me more as a fly-by-night company than a reputable organization (let's be honest - if you were manufacturing pool kits, wouldn't you have contact information for dealers, homeowners, etc?)

We sell Hydra polymer pool kits. You can check out the Hydra site at http://www.hydrapools.com and you can check out our site at http://www.diypools.com - I know for a fact that you'll get an answer if you call either of the numbers on our websites.

Our prices are comparable to theirs and I'd encourage you to rethink steel if that is the way you're going - we've seen lots of steel pools that were supposedly galvanized be completely rusted over when the first liner change comes around (roughly ten years), so you'd do better to go with a polymer panel. Many people say that polymer is much more expensive, but our costs are very close to theirs.

Homeowners call us up all the time, asking if they can really put in a pool kit themselves. Yes! We tell them yes, although I think many don't believe us. One good example is http://www.mypoolkit.com - this is one of our customers who ordered a kit, installed it by himself and was so amazed at how easy it was that he set up a website.

If you have the equipment to use, you're halfway there. We normally tell people to double the price of the kit and that is how much it will cost to install it. If you know of anyone who is a plumber or electrician, then you're definitely homefree. The only other thing you'll need to contract out is the cement for the collar and your deck (if you're doing a concrete deck.) Everything else can be done by you. We have had people get their pool kit and be filling it with water within three days, so don't believe anyone that tells you it is too hard for you to install by yourself.

Please feel free to call us up and we'll answer all your questions in regards to installing a pool kit.

Carol asks…

How do I remove an electrical breaker box from my yard?

I'm buying a house with a hot tub that sits in a sort of portable gazebo about 50 ft from the house. Right now we're negotiating who gets the hot tub.

There is a breaker box outside the gazebo that attaches the electricity to the hot tub and a ceiling fan. If they take the hot tub, what can I do about the breaker box that's just sticking up in the yard? Any ideas of cost to remove? I may tell them to pay it.

The Sage answers:

I think you should leave the breaker box in it's place. Are you afraid of getting electrocuted? It's no more dangerous than any other outlet.
If I was buying that house, I wouldn't want the hot tub, but I would use the breaker box to power my tools, and create a little workshop shed.
The you will have a good power source in your shed. You can plug in a heater in the shed and work on hobby projects in the shed , even in the winter.
You will also have a good place to plug in electric hedge trimmers.
It would also be a good place to charge an electric motorcycle, or electric garden tractor.

A repairman said it would cost $800-$1,000 to repaire, but the pieces holden the lattece work are so rotted it might last only 8 months

Used Hot Tubs Store answers:

Sorry but we need more info…

What brand of hot tub/gazebo is it? There are five major companies that make them, assuming that it was bought with the hot tub. I hate to tell you that a grand is about right for all of them. I would not go back with a wood cedar shake roof and opt for the metal roofs since they do not leak as much. (Notice I said much)

Joseph asks…

Just bought a home with hot tub in a Gazebo, it has electric base board heat three feet from tub, is this saf

Just bought a home with hot tub in a gazebo, there are electric base board heaters with in three feet of tub, plus lighting above four feet from tub, also outlets with in two feet of tub. Is this a code violation? is this safe?

Used Hot Tubs Store answers:

There is definitely some potential risk there. I would have an electrician replace the circuit breaker to that heater with a GFCI circuit breaker just to be safe. Also have a GFCI outlet installed to protect the outlets near the hot tub. I think the light shouldn’t be a problem.

Paul asks…

What kind of plant can I grow near a hot tub?

I have 2 small planter boxes that came with my hot tub gazebo. What can I grow in them? Full shade. I don’t want anything too tall. I would prefer color. I guess fern is OK to. What kind though?

Used Hot Tubs Store answers:

Geraniums come in a wide variety of scents and colors and tolerate shade. Hostas thrive in damp and shady conditions and have nice leaves, not as much color. For fragrance try Honeysuckles or Sweet box. Ferns are good – Spider plants are also good in the shade. Sorry, I couldn’t find too many color plants for you. You might want to plant bulbs in the planter boxes in addition to your plant because if it dies off in the winter, when spring comes around you will get some sweet and colorful surprises in your planter boxes. Narcissus, freesia and lillys are colorful and fragrant bulbs. Plus they will multiply yearly if you leave them in there (fertilize) and you can separate them and plant extras in your yard

Sharon asks…

How would you suggest we go about removing a 6 foot black rat snake from our hot tub in our gazebo?

Just what I said. There’s a 6 foot rat snake apparently living in the gazebo inside of the hot tub. There’s stuffing removed from the hot tub cover and everything. We’re trying to figure out what the best way to remove it would be since none of us want to get too close to it even though they’re fairly harmless.

Suggestions?
Well, Crystal, being cautious about a snake has nothing to do with being “grown up”. Maybe you should take your own advice.

Thanks everyone else. We ended up just making a team effort and we got it out of the hot tub cover and into a bucket. We drove it to a forested area and let it go free there.

Used Hot Tubs Store answers:

Obviously, you don’t want the snake to hurt you. You, on the other hand, don’t want to hurt the snake either. There should be an animal welfare or someone at the health department, who could give you some quick assistance. I wish you much success and that the animal people come shortly too. Peace!!!

Linda asks…

I want to hook up a hot tub and plan electrical for future yard use?

There was at one time a hot tub on the deck, I have since move it to outdoor gazebo. The tub is presently 125 feet away from the service panel. I need to know can I feed/junction off of the old hook 75ft from service and 75ft to new tub location. At the junction I want to also install light and fan w/switch for the outdoor grill area. My question is how do I test to determine weather existing wire is adequate and what would be the maximum load. While undergoing this task I want to know what I would need to install for my future use which would include electrical to the shed 100 ft from junction and pool 75ft from junction or 75ft from service panel (dedicated hook up pool). If this makes any since to you please help.
correction, the distance from the service panel to junction box is 100ft, and tub location is 90ft, total 190ft. The current wire is awg #6 with a #10 grd, type UF-B 600 volts. The tub‘s EL rating is 40amps, and call for 240/50amps. I am also hoping to run a ceiling fan with lgts, and a 30something flat screen…Thankz

Used Hot Tubs Store answers:

Try these 2 web sites. They tell you how to calculate wire size and voltage drop for certain distances.

You may find it quite daunting choosing an enclosure for your hot tub due to the many different styles, colours and brands available, but do not be put off. Nothing worthwhile is ever easy. Remember that not only will the right gazebo give that extra flavour to your landscape but it will also provide protection from the weather, allowing you the enjoyment of using your hot tub all year round.

The large majority of hot tub gazebos come in kit form with easy to assemble instructions. They include the roof, panels for the walls, doors and windows plus all the other bits and pieces required and can usually be erected within a matter of hours. Be warned though that the kit does not include the base which needs to be solid due to the heaviness of the enclosure when filled with water.

New Hot Tub Gazebos: 8" x 12" Redwood:- Total price is $3295. Measurements are 101" x 149" x 84' with a roofline of 115". Available in Redwood Tone and Coastal Grey colors to suit most styles. Made from durable Old Growth Californian Redwood.

There is the choice of having an open air construction which naturally has no roof. Although you won't have the added protection from above, you will be able to relax in the hot tub whilst gazing up at the stars. If you are looking to save some pennies then consider a pavilion style gazebo with no windows or doors. If concerned about privacy you could add screens yourself.

Make sure there is at least a 3 foot path around the hot tub giving you the space to walk around or just sit on the edge. Once you have made your decision, there are a host of extras you can add including lights, chairs, tables, music, bar etc. whatever your heart desires and your budget allows. You can always add these later.

Below you can watch one of our chosen videos showing you exactly how a gazebo can alter the look of the spa, hot tub or jacuzzi. We are aware that seeing is believing and that by actually demonstrating the overall features available, our customers have a much greater chance of understanding our passion.
